Start with the Salary Tax Calculator. Enter your gross pay (annual, monthly, fortnightly, weekly, daily or hourly) and it returns your income tax, Medicare levy and take-home pay on the 2026–27 ATO rates.
Australia uses progressive tax brackets. The first $18,200 is tax-free, then each slice of income above that is taxed at its bracket's rate, with a 2% Medicare levy usually on top. Only the income within each bracket is taxed at that bracket's rate — not your whole income.
