Short guide and links to search for lost and ATO-held super
Billions of dollars in super are sitting in lost or unclaimed accounts. Use myGov and the ATO to find yours and consider consolidating into one fund.
Log into myGov, link the ATO, then go to Super → Fund details to see lost and active accounts. ATO-held super also appears there.
This is a very rough guide only. Real amounts depend on your employment history and each fund. Always check via myGov/ATO.
Enter years in the workforce and number of employers. Adding an average salary gives a slightly better range.
Rough range (estimate only)
$18,000 – $84,000
This is not a substitute for searching on myGov. Amounts vary widely.
Lost super is money in accounts that funds have lost contact with (e.g. old address, name change). The ATO also holds unclaimed super when funds can’t find members.
If you’ve had multiple jobs or changed address without telling your fund, you may have small balances in several accounts. Finding and consolidating them can reduce fees and make it easier to track your retirement savings.
