Estimate JobSeeker Payment from your fortnightly income and assessed situation.
Rates effective from 20 September 2026. This is an income-test estimate for a person below Age Pension age, before assets and other eligibility checks.
Choose an assessed situation. Principal-carer exemptions and partial capacity require a Services Australia decision. Temporary incapacity alone does not qualify for the higher basic rate. This tool does not estimate the extra Pharmaceutical Allowance for a single person with temporary incapacity.

Assume an ordinary single recipient with $356.00 assessable income per fortnight, no Working Credit balance and no extra supplements.
The estimate starts with the maximum payment of $833.70 and applies a $113.00 income-test reduction. The estimate is $720.70 per fortnight, or $360.35 per week.
The example does not test assets, residence, obligations or eligibility.

This calculator exists to show you the arithmetic. It applies published Australian rates, thresholds and formulas to the numbers you enter and shows the working, so you can check it. That is all it does — it produces a number and describes what the number is. It does not recommend anything and it holds no opinion about any financial product.

This calculator is not intended to be relied on for the purposes of making a decision in relation to a financial product. Before you make a financial decision, consider obtaining advice from someone who holds an Australian Financial Services Licence. We do not, and we cannot advise you.
The published basic rate depends on the assessed situation. The ordinary single basic rate is $824.90 per fortnight and the partnered basic rate is $755.10. Normal Energy Supplement and, for some assessed situations, Pharmaceutical Allowance are included before the income test.
The ordinary test has a $150.00 fortnightly free area. The next slice, through $256.00, reduces payment by 50 cents per dollar. Income above that reduces it by 60 cents per dollar. A single principal carer uses 40 cents per dollar above the free area.
The higher single rate can apply from age 55 after 9 continuous months on income support. Age alone is insufficient. Principal-carer exemption and partial-capacity situations must be assessed by Services Australia; choosing one here does not replace that assessment.

JobSeeker Payment can support eligible people while they look for work or cannot work for a short time. Services Australia assesses the situation and amount.
This tool uses the published basic rate, normal supplements and income test for the choices shown. It does not decide whether you qualify.
The basic rate depends on your assessed situation. The ordinary single basic rate in this table is $824.90 per fortnight and the partnered basic rate is $755.10. Normal supplements can be added before the income test. Services Australia decides your final amount. See current JobSeeker rates.
The ordinary fortnightly income-free area is $150.00. Income between that and $256.00 reduces the estimate by 50 cents per dollar; income above it reduces the estimate by 60 cents per dollar. A single principal carer uses a different taper. Working Credit may change what Services Australia pays. See the JobSeeker income test.
Yes. For a partner receiving no payment, the calculator applies the relevant partner free area and then a 60-cent reduction for each dollar above it. For a partner receiving a pension or service pension, it tests half your combined ordinary income. A partner on another allowance needs a separate assessment. See the JobSeeker partner-income rules and DSS partner example.
This income-test estimate reaches zero when the assessed income reduction uses up the maximum payment. The cut-off varies with your situation, partner income and supplements. Services Australia also checks assets and eligibility. This tool makes no eligibility decision and does not account for Working Credit. See the income test and assets test.
Rent Assistance may be payable to eligible renters receiving JobSeeker, subject to accommodation and other rules. It is not included in this estimate. Use the Rent Assistance Calculator for the rent-based amount and check who can get Rent Assistance.
Paying eligible rent? Use the Rent Assistance Calculator for a separate rent-based estimate.
Studying or training? Use the Youth Allowance Calculator or the Austudy Calculator to estimate the basic payment after the relevant income tests.
