Estimate Parenting Payment from your fortnightly income and family situation.
Rates effective from 20 September 2026. This is an income-test estimate for a person below Age Pension age, before assets and other eligibility checks.
For a single parent, child count changes the income-free area. Services Australia decides which children count.
Separate ages with commas, one for each child. Ages are for your record only and do not determine eligibility here.
Enter your assessable ordinary income before tax. This estimate does not use a Working Credit balance.
Your confirmation does not decide eligibility. In particular, the youngest child must meet the applicable age rule and Services Australia considers residence, care, assets and other conditions.
Enter your fortnightly income and confirm the rules apply.
Assume a single parent with 1 dependent child and $332.60 assessable income per fortnight. They confirm that the Parenting Payment rules apply.
The maximum including normal supplements is $1,087.20 and the income test gives a $40.00 income-test reduction. The estimate is $1,047.20 per fortnight, or $523.60 per week.
This example excludes assets, Working Credit, Rent Assistance and special circumstances. It does not establish entitlement.

This calculator exists to show you the arithmetic. It applies published Australian rates, thresholds and formulas to the numbers you enter and shows the working, so you can check it. That is all it does — it produces a number and describes what the number is. It does not recommend anything and it holds no opinion about any financial product.

The estimate starts with the published basic rate and applicable normal supplements. The income test then reduces that amount. The basic fortnightly rates in this table are $1,037.50 for a single parent and $755.10 for a partnered parent.
For a single parent, the free area is $232.60 with one dependent child. Each additional dependent child raises it by $24.60. The income above that area reduces the estimate by 40 cents per dollar. Partnered parents use the benefit income bands and, when the partner receives no payment, a separate partner-income test.
A single parent's youngest child must be under 14; a partnered parent's youngest child must be under 6. These are eligibility rules to confirm with Services Australia. Entering child count changes the single-parent free area, but the calculator does not test ages or decide eligibility.
For time away from work after a birth or adoption, use the Paid Parental Leave Calculator to estimate government Parental Leave Pay separately.

Parenting Payment supports a principal carer of a young child. The amount depends on family situation, income and other eligibility conditions.
This tool uses the published basic rate, normal Energy Supplement, applicable Pharmaceutical Allowance and the income test for the choices shown. Services Australia determines entitlement.
For a single parent with no assessable income, the estimate is $1,087.20 per fortnight including normal supplements. This includes a basic rate of $1,037.50. The partnered basic rate is $755.10. The income test can reduce these amounts. Your final amount depends on Services Australia's assessment. See current Parenting Payment rates.
For a single parent with one child, the fortnightly income-free area is $232.60. It rises by $24.60 for each additional child. The single-parent reduction above the free area is 40 cents per dollar. Partnered parents use the benefit income bands and may also have a partner-income reduction. See Services Australia's income and assets test and the DSS single-parent rule.
Yes. For a partner receiving a pension or service pension, the tested ordinary income is half your combined ordinary income. For a partner receiving no payment, the estimate tests your income and then reduces the remainder by 60 cents per dollar above the applicable partner free area. A partner receiving another allowance needs a different assessment. See the DSS partnered-parent income rules.
The payment can stop when assessable income reduces the estimate to zero or when you no longer meet eligibility rules. There is no single income cut-off for every household: child count, partner income and supplements change it. This tool does not assess the youngest child's age or other eligibility conditions. Check Services Australia's Parenting Payment eligibility rules and income and assets test.
Rent Assistance may be payable with a qualifying income support payment if you pay eligible rent. It is separate from this Parenting Payment estimate and is not added here. Use the Rent Assistance Calculator for a rent-based estimate, then check your circumstances with Services Australia.
Paying eligible rent? Use the Rent Assistance Calculator for a separate rent-based estimate.
